2 Democrats Announce for County Legislator

Jeanette Provenzano announced her intentions to seek the position of Alderman-at-Large.  Almost immediately, 2 Democrats have announced their intention to seek the position.

Jennifer Schwartz Berky, former Ulster County Deputy Director of Planning, has announced.  Right after, Brian Woltman, the City Purchasing Agent, announced his plans to run.

According to the Daily Freeman, Jeanette Provenzano is supporting Brian Woltman.

No Republican has announced.  Interestingly, both of the candidates planning to run for Mayor live in this district.  I know for certain that Ron Polacco intends to run for Mayor and has no interest in the County Legislator.  I have not spoken with Scott DiMicco and thus do not know his thoughts or plans.

As far as the 2 declared Democrats, I do not know Ms. Berky, so I have no opinion.  I do know Brian Woltman.  Although he and i disagree on almost every issue imaginable, I know that he is a true believer.  He takes liberal or progressive positions because that is what he believes.  So, while I do not agree with him about 99% of the time, I do respect his willingness to stay with his beliefs.

If you think Woltman is liberal & progressive you should hear the views of Berky. She is sooooo far left......

Well! She can`t hold a job she had so many when they get to know what she is, the men in the white coats take her away in a straight jacket! like they did in the county building

Why don`t you ask her. Disciplinary charges for insubordination.

Hey Rich,I been observing politics in this county for 35 years. Nothing really surprises me what is often said about people[in the negative sense] in the political arena as anythings goes for people seeking to gain favor with their target's political opposition. Unfortunately, this practice tends to keep well-meaning good people out of politics.

Rumor has it that Berky was fired or asked to leave her employment with Ulster County Planning dept. She then started her own company. Not sure what 2:43 is rambling about with white coats? Perhaps she had a mental breakdown? Woltman would be good as a legislator and he is quite rational. He doesn't seem to waiver from his convictions. Have to admire that, like you said.

They had to restrain her, and pick her up off the floor...

Jennifer is a true public servant. An experienced, smart, courageous and kind person who is well known and well liked. Smearing her in this way is a terrible tactic that I trust will backfire in the face of the one posting such things here.

This is a good choice to run for Legislator, NOT.

To the person who submitted a post asking me about the Goodfellas blog, please do not waste my time. I could care less about Blaber's blog.

Just to show how screwed up or priorities misplaced in the democratic party..they re- instated Blaber to the committee. They need to run a campaign that is not geared towards anti Gallo. And their choice is Steve Noble who I believe is a puppet for their skewed sense of community betterment with new leadership.?? Seriously? Then they as a committee pick certain incumbent council members who are supportive of Gallo to be thrown into primaries? These unnamed committee men(and we do know who they are ) are not for the people but for their purpose of self glorification and inflated egos. Really need to get motivation from the Conservative and Republican parties to throw those certain democratic individuals off the council. Without opposition these democrats(Dunn, Will, Schabot, Carey)will be automatically coming back. Time to truly care about the citizens and where we as a city need to go.

Yes two the other two anonymous posters. Everyone in the County Office Building knows Ms. Schwartz-Berky did not leave her job of her own volition and it was in no way at all political, but professional. It was a very odd and memorable day when the police had to show up at the building. Two words: time bomb.
