Remember in November

The Common Council approved the sanctuary city resolution by a wide margin.

The crowd contained large numbers of people brought in from outside the city who cheered at the slightest sound in favor of the resolution.

I am certain that many passed Kingstonians are flipping in their graves as we speak.

If Kingston has any real future other than being an extension of New Paltz and New York City, we must replace these Aldermen who did not oppose this legislation.

It is either that or we surrender Kingston as we have known it.

they bring in crowds from all over the place. More than likely they couldn't all speak as they don't live in Kingston and would have to address the public by stating name and address. for some of them this is an occupation. saw quite a few of the same people who came out to protest Niagara Bottling.

I agree. So much for being a country of laws. Shame on Mayor Noble and the common council supporters for their political grandstanding.

I wonder among those interlopers who paraded in are actually from Kingston? If so, Do they own property in the city of Kingston and pay taxes? I saw several individuals who have shown up for other protesting events in our city who do not live in Kingston...They live for the chance to protest anything they deem reprehensible. Yes, many are immigrants from Brooklyn as Hoffay stated.. coming in like locusts with no thought of our past history or values.

Imagine, if you will, that mayor Steve Noble doesn’t really care about immigrants. That he also doesn’t care about other crunchy green issues, like Dakota Access Pipeline. That he only drives an electric car for show.

Scratch just a little beneath the surface of some very thin political skin, and you might find, like other have already, Steve Noble cares about one thing. Giving city jobs to himself, his family, and his friends. And keeping a tight grip on that control, whether or not the cronies actually do their jobs, or even show up at all.

In this light, it becomes clear, that Steve Noble needed to pack the Jan. 10th, 2017 city council meeting with hundreds of willing dupes, useful idiots, hollering about immigration reform, in a fruitless effort to fell good about losing the presidential election to the likes of Don Trump.

It was a cynical, Machiavellian move, timed perfectly with Stevie Boy’s first ever State of the City address. Had the room not been mobbed beyond legal capacity with immigrants bused in from all over the Hudson Valley, Mr. Noble ould instead have been faced with angry residents infuriated over the doubling of city parking rates. In fact, a petition with over 800 signatures of residents, business owners and employees, slammed the mayor’s parking plan over the weekend.

Those voices got drowned out Tuesday night. So much so, that the parking issue did not even make the news at all. Which is a shame, because the new parking kiosk scandal is a complete fiasco, completely embarassing the administration. Let me eleborate.

Those newfangled kiosks were ordered ahead of the vote, despite there not being enough money in contingency to pay for the equipment. The bill is around $150K. The idiots running this city were forced to jump the gun, because the 2017 budget actually falls short roughly $400,000 -- anticipating the increased parking revenues. Of course the real truth only comes out a day before the vote in caucus. So muh for transparency & public inclusion in the process.

Okay now it gets really crazy. The kiosk resolution passes 5-3, but they need to float a bond to cover the money to pay for the new parking equipment -- already on its way to a crowded street near you. The contingency fund will all be used up to cover the three union contracts (and still fall short as well). However, the bond resolution fails to pass, because alderman Doug Koop is abroad on an academic junket, once again. The hefty bond requires six votes. In a word: oops.

This total clusterpickle boils down to a three month delay, at least, befor the new parking swindle can take effect. Which adds up to a lot of money in anticipated revenue. And if word gets out about all this nonsense, those eight hundred petitioners might decide to make a big stink, preventing the supermajority to pass the bond. All it takes is one more vote.

What it all boils don to, dear friends, in my own humble opinion, is that the mayor wishes to take an extra quarter out of everybody’s pocket, each half hour, and hand it over to his friends.

All the immigrants went back home, to whatever cargo container they crawled out of. At the end of the day, this is Kingston, and you can’t run the city on sleight of hand, smoke & mirrors, bait & switch, forever. The day of reckoning will come, when all these nepotists get run out of City Hall on a rail. On judgment day, Steve Noble can take his forestry degree and apply for ice cream management at Stewart’s, along with all the other immigrants looking for work.

I notice that Jeremy Blaber’s blog Kingston Goodfellas went dark this week. You can’t even read it anymore without an invitation. Don’t call us, we’ll call you (from an unlisted number). Guess too many Goodfella readers were slamming honorable mayor Nature Boy on Blaber’s bathroom wall. Fun while it lasted.

Totally agree with Kerfuffle. Don't know where he gets those facts but I believe he is correct. Noble probably in a panic as the Kiosks bond went down in flames. Got to be a lot of scrambling to get money from someplace to fill the gap in the budget. Don't look at us taxpayers again to bail your sorry butt out of a pickle. I think just about everything in the city has been taxed. I am inclined to let him twist in the wind and see how Megan Weiss-Rowe will spin this. His "team" at city hall thinks they can do anything they want and ignore the longtime employees who are the ones who ACTUALLY work. They have kept city hall running during many administrations. Mayor can no longer be on a learning curve...cannot seem to read or have his finger on the pulse of the residents. That usually comes with age and maturity. But then again if somebody else is pulling the strings he is just the puppet. Am Glad to see he wore a suit for his speech.

Two words seemed to be missing from most the speakers in favor of the grandstanding copycat resolution....legal and illegal. Mayor Hoffay mentioned immigrants coming here 100 years prior to the birth of our nation and its laws....huh? Mayor Hoffay also used the word immigrants quite often but glaringly left out legal or illegal.

Obstructing justice 3 times, violating the ethics law; Hoffay a defacto boss invokes the RICO Act, Homeland Security should be tapping their phones. It's obvious that someone wrote the State of the City address for mayor sugar pants because that is not his personality. There are not enough uhh, ummm, and you-knows in it. In fact, they were completely missing. Another hint: he stumbled over the words on the page because they were not his...

Speaking of Mayor Hoffay and phones, it might be interesting to see the phone logs from Assemblyman Cahill's offices (public records) over the past two years (cell and land lines). Calls to City Rec, Noble cells (All of them) and house, City Hall......all on the State dime....emails too....

11:08 What do you mean by “Sugar Pants ?” Is that some kind of disco thing?

What's up with the headlines that mayor denies his letter of support to UC Economic Development Agency regarding RUPCO's plans to purchase the former Alms House is NOT a letter of support? Another way of saying "inexperienced" and "immature" because after reading the letter that is posted with the article in Saturday's edition, it sure sounds like a letter of support to me. What was his intent in doing so then? To stroke RUPCO's long history of providing subsidized housing in city of Kingston and throughout Ulster County? We know how this works: send letters on behalf of agencies that have an invested interest in a project so it looks good in finalizing the deal. What are we stupid?

If you watched last evening's news with speaker of the house; yes, there will be reprisals for this. It is the law of the land. the mayor took an oath to uphold the Constitution and broke it, thus he broke the law. He switched the original resolution that was presented in committee and no one saw it coming until the packets were in front of the council members for a vote that evening. He has over stepped his authority as the executive branch of government and needs to be held accountable for his actions. It is the duty of the legislative branch of government to draft resolutions and act on them accordingly.

Blaber can't stand not having attention, his blog is back up. Of course because Cahill posted something he had to copycat. He spoke against the sanctuary city in a speech someone clearly wrote for him. Hes not that smart.

Anonymous said...

Blaber is complimenting you now. What a shocker!!

Richard T. Cahill Jr. said...

Perhaps he should just be ignored. Posting about him just gives him the attention he craves.

Anonymous said...

What's with his blog? Why all the deleted posts about the assemblyman?

Anonymous said...

He probably deleted them because Kevin is the only elected offical that takes him seriously. The rest have decided to either write him off or are waiting to see of he can grow up and stop with has the drugs and immaturity. He's not stupid. I havnt been on his blog since October when it stopped being updated regularly, I didn't know it was still up. Maybe there is something to not talking about him because now I'm curious when I otherwise wouldn't have even bothered to check.

Trump is going after sanctuary cities executive order today

Anonymous said...

this Mayor put our city under a microscope from the Feds and because of his knee jerk reaction to shield illegal immigrants we could be denied funding which in some depts in city hall are needed to keep afloat. way to go Mayor! I guess you are set on being a one term Mayor..fees for municipal parking, Alms house and now this debacle of sanctuary city status just might guarantee that.

kerfuffle said...

Don’t worry! If our fearless leader Donald Trump punishes the City of Kingston for electing a snowflake lib-tard, then mayor Noble can make up the difference in lost Federal funding by simply raising the parking rates again. And again. And again. With those newfangled digital kiosks, the rates can be raised on a daily basis, at no extra administrative cost. Because, everyone who drives around Kingston can also afford an expensive electric car, right?

Richard T. Cahill Jr. said...

I will not post attacks against family members of politicos unless the person in question is also a politico. However, family members of politicos who are not politicos themselves are off limits on this blog.

If you want to post something like that, there is another Kingston blog that is extremely low class. Post there.

Maybe the city can recoup some of the funds Donald is going to take away when the Mayor pays back the the sick time he was illegally paid out before he took office....

wow, a Mexican residing in kingston being deported for the 4th time for being here illegally! served a 100 day jail sentence and now being deported again. So do all the do gooders now realize that homeland security via ICE are now fully aware of kingston? what next? this sanctuary city designation now threatens federal aid? Worried about the citibus? That is totally funded by federal aid.. CDBG grants? law enforcement grants?

City Clerk Carly (Williams) Winnie daughter is new page for the common council as Bill Carey's son has moved on, which was way overdue. She started this new position at Tuesday February 7 council meeting.

After all the ethics code is about professional integrity and city employees, especially the City Clerk position, which is one of the highest paid appointed positions, should be held to a higher degree of ethical conduct. This sets a bad precedent.

There apparently wasn't a call to each of the aldermen to see if there was a young man/woman in their ward that could use a few extra bucks or need school credit.

It is just incredible rubbing this in the public's face. I really don’t want to hear that the position only pays a pittance of $500/ year. That is not the point. The city clerk should know better and for the record, an alderman’s kin should not have been a page either.

maybe next time when there is an opening for a page an announcement could be made next door at KHS. Would be good for students to see government in action..the good and the bad aspects but please no more family considerations for positions.
