No Escaping Taxes

It used to be that the only way to escape oppressive taxation in this country was to leave.  Now, Democrats want to tax people who leave.

Chuck Schumer has introduced a bill that would require a massive tax be paid by anyone who renounces their United States citizenship and leaves the country.  Apparently, the man who is putting Facebook on the stock market has renounced his citizenship and has become a citizen of Singapore.  (There are no capital gains taxes there).

Schumer thinks it is constitutional for the United States government to force this man to pay a huge amount of taxes as a penalty for leaving the country.  Sorry, Senator, but such a move is unconstitutional and illegal.  It would not only be unconstitutional to tax a non-citizen, but also it would be an ex post facto law.  In other words, Congress cannot pass a law making something illegal and then go back prior to its passage to prosecute someone.

1:31,

According to the IRS (as reported by the New York Times), the top 1% in the United States paid more in federal income taxes than the bottom 95 percent.

As an example, the top 1 percent of taxpayers paid 40.4 percent of the total income taxes collected by the federal government in 2007 (under President Bush). This is the highest percentage in modern history.

The recent IRS data bolsters the findings of an OECD study showing that the U.S.—not France or Sweden—has the most progressive income tax system among OECD nations. We rely more heavily on the top 10 percent of taxpayers than does any nation and our poor people have the lowest tax burden of those in any nation.

How can one reasonably state that the top 1% is not paying its fair share?

Stop with the class warfare and rejoin reality. We are taxing and spending ourselves into financial oblivion.

There is no "99%." That is crap. The Occupy boozers and losers don't even have the intelligence of a gibbon and yet there are other idiots who parrot back the trash these morons spew.

Guess what? The wealthy are the ones who support the rest of us by creating jobs and growing prosperity.

Damn Libs have no brains and even less economic savvy. Imbeciles.
