Just a Thought

We are all still digging out from that monster storm.

Many people are upset about the plowing in the city.

What does the Mayor talk about during his radio broadcast?

He talks about putting in bike paths in the city!!

Uuuuuggggghhh!!

This administration needs to stop worrying about federal immigration issues, bike paths, and so forth.  Between those two things and attempts to raise parking fees and charging for municipal lots, businesses are going to be forced out.

The focus needs to be the nuts and bolts of the city.  Strengthen DPW, give fire and police departments the tools they need to keep our city safe.  Our infrastructure needs repair.

Stop worrying about bike paths and Donald Trump.  Be the mayor of Kingston and put Kingston at the top of the agenda.

I know neither the Mayor nor Council majority will listen, but at least I can rant and feel a little better for a few minutes.

Mayor needs to know he is not back in college protesting and what he is doing now risks the future of the city of citizens whose voices are being drowned out by the outside influences. They don't even reside in the city of Kingston. Mayor needs to realize who can actually vote for elected officials. Mayor too easily swayed by his base . and definitely no statesman or willing to compromise. Bike paths?? how about infrastructure repairs before his beloved bike paths fall into the sewer and water lines underground. might be more water craft transportation if that happens.

It does not matter what political party you embrace, the infrastructure of this city is crumbling. Traveling Lucas Avenue was like a carnival ride once you crossed the city line. We must unite and demand an end to useless programs and wasting time on resolutions that are meaningless. Keep the roads plowed, fight fires and crime. You listening Mr. Mayor?

I can see mayor Noble now, riding down Broadway on his shiny red tricycle, ringing his little bell, propeller beanie twirling in the breeze.

mayor noble has no clue what is truly the main concerns of the city..taxes, infrastructure, are the main ones but also quality of life. and bike lanes is not on the top of list. traffic signals and traffic patterns trumps the bikes especially when one is driving on Broadway. sprucing up Broadway is good but not to the detriment of higher taxes if grants do not cover the full expense. I am concerned about the first car to bike accident and what is the ramifications to the city. or an emergency vehicle not being able to get to its destination because a biker is not paying attention. if we are going to let bicycles be like cars than they need to be ticketed for not obeying the rules of the road just like cars are required to do. you want to be part of the transportation around kingston then rules need to apply . If children are not being responsible bike riders fine the parents. hate to tell you how many times I have had to swerve to avoid a child biker riding a passenger on his seat weaving in and out. and no helmuts for any of them.

A coin toss to decide a city bid, never heard of such only with this Mayor and Corp council

Did anyone give the kid mayor permission to leave on spring break? Now, Uncle Jim is in charge in the event some important decisions have to be made. Does that mean he has to check with Hoffay, Cahill and Landi too before he speaks to the press, or should I say, send an e-mail? If something needs to be commented on, he generally has his mouthpiece Weiss-Rowe throw her two cents in. Wonder if mayor's office is even open this week because there is a sign on the door to direct visitors to the city clerk's office for assistance. Now that's really funny--having someone from that office assist you.

the kids running the asylum are on spring break. says alot how about how they are running this administration like a student council. now everybody go to their homeroom....
a have nothing against youth but there comes a part when Mayor is more concerned with aesthetics than substance. and where are we in the Union contracts.....? and other major issues...other than bikes paths and linear parks.

Richard, so any thoughts on the controversy of Mayor being a special guest of the "cocktail on the river event?" Personally I would not have had a problem if he was not billed as special guest. That does sound like the developer is trying to curry favor. But then again the city needs the development and this sounds like a high end project. Once again Kingston has to be careful not to shoot themselves in the foot. At the same time cannot circumnavigate the rules that are in place. Mayor, Isn't some of that land protected wetlands or in a flood zone? Can you see tourists trampling on them especially after a concert. ? After all, he is all about the environment..Somewhat of an hypocrite in this matter.. He has stepped into it this time. I am not comfortable with Asst Corp council Gartenstein's interpretation of the original site plan & permit. He has lost some credibility with me as he seems to make opinions on the side of the Mayor's wishes...who professes he will let the process work..Ummm yea, sure.......

Has anyone seen the fishing dock that was installed at the Rondout after being two years delayed? It was at an out of the way location on Dock Street last year which was not used as much as it should have if it had been placed in a more accessible location. And there was a quick ribbon cutting ceremony with representatives from DEC present.

Maybe that is why the kid mayor is attending this cocktail on the river event to cut a deal with the owners of the property so we can have the dock placed where you can actually catch fish. This whole concert fiasco could backfire on the city if we are not careful. But the corporation counsel's mouthpiece renders an interpretation of the papers filed with the Planning Board that an actual permit for some 3500 people each night for the concerts is NOT necessary. There have been behind closed door meetings now to smooth things out as far as traffic control, noise, shuttles, and other amenities BUT when Gartenstein orchestrates and controls the board members, you know something is not right. He ushers board members into executive sessions before meetings start so they all fall into line like good soldiers. He never had credibility from the get-go. Yet, the Planning Board gives a new entrepreneur a difficult time because he wants to dress up a property that has been abandoned for several years. Gartenstein controls every boards' decision making process.

When will the 2 uptown parkings lots be finished?

What is Platte afraid to vote NO on alums house because he wants to be Fire Chief. Isn't this a conflict of interest, oh the whole admintration is a conflict of ineterest starting with the make believe mayor and tom hoffay.

Speaking of monster storms, is Mike Hein gearing up to run for Congress in 2018?...

I agree with the post on Wayne Platte.... Don't want to aggravate the kid who might appoint you chief. With him hanging over Mark Brown he is almost panting for the position.
As to Mike Hein ..he would be a small fish in a big pond in Washington. Not his style as he likes to be King and in the spotlight.
If Gartenstein was anymore up the butt of the Mayor he would be a suppository.

Mayor states o radio today that the colonial bus system is horrible. Your the Mayor so fix it. Platte for sure will never vote against the Mayor. Wants Chief so bad.

Jeremy Blaber and Ellen DiFalco have been the only people that make any sense at the common council meetings. Odd.

I wouldn't put Jeremy Blaber in the same league as Ellen... Ellen way above Jeremy. She presents clear concise facts. Jeremy a bit too complimentary to the Mayor. Almost like he is sucking up for a position. Or he is learning to make a deal....plus changes parties to fit his advantage points or current agenda.
