Ginsburg Crosses an Ethical Line

Judges do not comment on politics.  It is an axiom, a clear rule, and an ethical mandate.
Yet, Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg has violated this rule by publicly attacking Donald Trump.  In so doing, she has crossed an ethical line.

This behavior is disgraceful.  Judges are supposed to be neutral.  What if the Trump vs Clinton race ends up before the Court?  She must now recuse herself and the Court will be hampered.

Even liberals who despise Trump have criticized Ginsburg for her comments.

I have great respect for Judges (Yes, even the liberal ones).   To see a Justice behave this way is truly disappointing.

maybe she is getting a bit senile....losing her sense of judicial responsibilities. They are pretty much judges for life... she is not a young member of the supreme court.

Her actions may have been counter productive and help Trump get elected. If the election goes to Supreme Court she will have to recuse herself So any decision that might go 4-4 would go 4-3 Trump. If she does stay 4-4 decision would go back to Federal Appeals Court, which could be more Trump oriented.

speaking of ethics, what is your take on the latest issue regarding the ethics board in city of Kingston. Did the mayor get bad advice by firing the previous members? and now is convening a new board which he has appointed to answer a complaint against him and corp counsel? How is this possible? definitely looks like some conflict of interest and has his new appointees been scrutinized for having no conflicts with city business and its affairs.? If nothing else, it is a bad PR move...

I said at the time that it was a bad PR move.

As for new complaint, the existing law creates a situation where ethics complaints are heard by a board appointed by the mayor.

I would suggest, given the nature of the complaint, that the grieving party might consider filing with the State Open Meetings Commission.

What about Goodfellas supporting Faso after he bashed him just weeks ago?

Could not care less what he does.

Newsflash:Ruth Bader Ginsberg is Jewish thus liberal thus apt to tell what she thinks about this, that, or the other thing.
Having said that it was a stupid thing to do, ie, to reveal the truth that Supreme Court Justices in this country are sometimes just as prone to utter foolishness as the commoners, instead of the distinguished people hiding behind robes the image demands. It was as stupid to reveal that as it was as stupid for The Jolly Green Giant, ie, the late N.O. D.A. Jim Garrison, to speak of reality versus fairy tales(even if his examples were inappropriate).
Having said that, if Trump is elected, I'm not moving to New Zealand. Canada is much closer.

Ridiculous. Some Jewish people are liberal. Some are conservative or moderate. Some hate politics.

Why make such an asinine statement about Jewish people? Just because someone is Jewish does not automatically make them liberal.

Last time I checked, Jewish people are capable of thinking and deciding for themselves.

Also, do not presume Canada or New Zealand would have you.

I hate these idle threats that if a certain individual is elected these so called citizens are leaving the country... Some are still here. One in particular is Barbra Streisand who made that inane remark. Good riddance to them. If you truly were a concerned citizen you would do what you could to help your country. Don't know what other countries would put up with your self absorbed ways..Like you really matter and you are going to change my vote. Grow up!
