I Agree With Mayor Sottile on this One

Yes, you read correctly. I agree with Mayor Sottile's decision to not discuss the charges against Tim Matthews or any investigations against KPD during his State of the City Address.

Three Alderman, including a Republican, are asking the Mayor to comment on these matters in his State of the City speech. The Mayor has declined.

In my opinion, it is inappropriate for politicos to start publicly discussing the details of any legal investigations or pending charges. It is best to allow the District Attorney's Office to do its job. There is no need to score political points and potentially poison the jury pool. It is better to wait, let justice take its course, and then offer comment.

The Mayor says he has received advice from Ulster County District Attorney Holley Carnright not to talk about the case or the pending charges. He has wisely decided to follow this opinion. I do not agree with the Mayor frequently, but when he is correct, he is correct.

I agree with the Mayor and I agree with you on this one Rich. But i'll tell you one thing. If KPD had a strong Chief that had a handle on what was going on this would NEVER had happened. Keller's a nice guy, but he has to go.

I agree with Mr. Anonymous about the chief...It's time for him to......................

Hoffay is grand standing on this one. Where was he on New Years Eve when just around the corner from him was a party with well over 300 people at. There is an investigation on going that has to be kept confidential. Maybe we should ask about some of Haffay's other actions.

Hoffay grandstanding? Really? You are finally just noticing his " M.O."?

In fairness to Matthews details do not need to be harped on. Let the legal system do its job and when everything is over, then it will be time discuss and possibly revamp police dept. procedures if needed.
Actually I am more curious as to what the Gold Shield Society consists of and how it operates.

I believe that Hoffay was recovering from heart surgury and not out on new years eve! Get a clue!

Now the Mayor endorses no yard waste pick up during th esummer months. That is a good ide NOT. The summer months is when yard waste pick up is needed. On Hoffay get a life he has many skeltons.

Actually, I think the Mayor is absolutely right on the waste pick-up. People want everything. Pick up the waste once during the summer, thats enough. In tough times you have to cut services. This one is a no-brainer. Once would be plenty.

I disagree strongly with the Mayor on the yard waste issue.

I wish the mayor wouldn't speak at all...I won't be listening.
