The Return of Sottile

Apparently, if elected, Steve Noble plans to create a Deputy Mayor position and pay said position $110,000.00 plus benefits.

Basically, he plans to spend enough money to raise taxes by 1% on its own.  This person will do the job of Mayor because Steve is not capable.

To make things worse, word is he plans to hire Jim Sottile.  Kingston thought they were done with the drink thrower.  Looks like he is coming back.

I can think of no better reason to vote Polacco than this news.

Let's see if Freeman explores this story.

So, basically, if Noble were to win, Kingston would be saddled with an unskilled amateur for Mayor and a longtime proven incompetent for Deputy Mayor. The Common Council would be led by the Mayor's uncle with the real power being a defrocked priest whose personal life is rumored to be questionable.

Say goodnight, Gracie...

Your friend Kirby will not run a story like this that will hurt the Nobles.

Outrageous! Taxpayers listen up. Noble, Noble administration is no capable of running City Government. Your taxes are going to go higher than ever with all the new positions Noble/Noble is going to create. I'm a Democrat and I'm voting for Polacco. This mass was created by the leaders of the Democratic Party, Donaldson, Hoffay, Landi, Fluentis, Martin, all self serving. Many Democrats are rebelling.

Wow,

That's going to be tough, along with all of the other new departments and positions he's adding, according to the Chamber News in the paper yesterday. I wonder if, with all the promises of new paid positions, anybody has asked him how we fit that under the new State-mandated 0.73% tax cap.

They are already asking for $100K for the Mayor. Mr. Noble has already promised to start moving on a City Manager day 1. Bi-lingual Inspectors mandatory, New Authorities, Business Development Director: This seems a lot of money in salaries, benefits, and mandates. Who pays for all of those promises?

Everyone should have been aware of this before the primary.

So let me get this straight...WE pay for a "figurehead" mayor but then pay $110,000 for a real working mayor? I hope this is only a rumor. If not , this is sure typical when Liberal minded democrats get into office and assert power. This is the most ridiculous idea..actually it would put the city into financial peril. We will have DiNapoli auditing us for a city in financial distress. SO why don't we just eliminate alderman at large position.what is he suppose to do? Who would he consult with on council issues? Laughable... The good old boys are back in town....

Hoffay should be exposed and a lot of people would be surprised of the findings. Landi and Donaldson are not to far behind Hoffay.

Bi lingual inspectors? do we have a lot of the Hispanic population as landlords or homeowners? If you live here and can afford to buy property than you will need to know the ENGLISH language. I am not having my tax payer dollars go to help you grasp the codes that are in English. City did have a bi lingual inspector at one time but I believe that grant ended and so did his job.
I am always curious as to why an Asian , Italian, German and French citizens who live here don't require translators?? Perhaps it is because they make a conscientious effort to learn the language to assimilate.
As to the rumor of Sottile rearing his ugly head..he did such a fantastic job for all the time he was in office?? NOT. Guess why we are now facing major infrastructure issues? Just pushed it down the road.....and we would want him back?
I was a democrat back then but switch to NOP several years ago as I was disgusted with their politics. Went to a few of their meetings but left disheartened at what they were doing. Nothing about the city but all about ego and getting back at the Republicans. And now they are back???? God help us......

Chamber News?

Yes, though it may be more accurate to write it as ChamberNews. It's a monthly tabloid newsletter publication put out by the Ulster Chamber of Commerce in association with the Daily Freeman. We get a copy as a supplement in the Freeman, and just received one on Wednesday this week. Here's a link to the website: http://www.ulsterchamber.org/pages/newsletter.

Polacco for Mayor, Provenzano on Independence line and voters can write her name on Democratic, Conservative line.

If these people get elected, they will bankrupt Kingston. Everyone who knows anything about politics knows that Noble is not capable of running this city.thats why Sottile will be appointed deputy mayor. Where is all this money coming from? The taxpayers are stretched to the limits already. We are on our way to becoming Newburgh and Poughkeepsie. We already have a head start.

Blame the Kingston Freeman. All this is happening under their watch. Cancel your subscription, Andrew Champs-Doran, you owe it to your city to help put them out of business. The only proper position should be "I NEVER read the Freeman."

Don't buy any of that crap. Think about it. A deputy mayor that makes more than the mayor Just not real.

Right. The Deputy Mayor might make $74,999, but be worth it if someone competent where put in. Where in KINGSTON is anyone fit for that job who is competent? It's LAUGHABLE.
