Anti-Gallocrats get Noble to run for Mayor, but not the one they wanted.

The portion of the Democrats I refer to as Anti-Gallocrats were hoping that Jim Noble would run for Mayor.  They will have a candidate named Noble, but not the one they wanted.  Steve Noble, the city zookeeper (with a title of Environmental Educator or some PC name like that) announced earlier tonight that he is running for Mayor.

The Democrats who support Gallo must be very happy that Uncle Jim decided not to run.  Though Gallo would have beaten him in the primary, the elder Noble likely would have taken the nomination first much like Hayes Clement did almost 4 years ago.

There are a few questions that now remain.

First, will Uncle Jim run as his nephew's running mate?  This in and of itself creates questions.  Would a Noble-Noble ticket confuse some voters and thus cost votes?  Would some people think that having two family members on the same ticket to be wrong?  Would Jim Noble, as the more experienced and frankly stronger candidate over shadow his young nephew?  As of now, Jim Noble has not stated his intentions.

Second, other than being anti-Gallo, what else is Steve Noble running on? What is his plan?  Environmentalism is all well and good, but more is required to run this city.

Third, how will Steve Noble and his campaign deal with the numerous political liabilities that will no doubt involve themselves in his campaign simply because they hate Shayne Gallo?  There is no question that these individuals (and we all know who they are) will try to insert themselves into the campaign.  Noble has to find away to keep them away.  Will he be able to do so without create a public fiasco?  Others have been unable to avoid these political blood suckers.

Fourth, (and I have asked this already), who will be Shayne Gallo's running mate?  I have been suggesting Jeanette Provenzano.  Now, rumbles are beginning to surface that she might consider it under certain circumstances, i.e. if Jim Noble does not run.  This may mean that despite the potential perils of 2 people with the same name on the ticket, Steve may ask Uncle Jim to keep Jeanette out of the race.

Fifth and finally, what answer will Steve give when reporters and/or citizens ask about him being his spouse's boss?  If Steve were to win, he would be his wife's boss.  Obviously, this creates political and personal issues.

As I have said before, 2015 will be a very interesting year.

RC, on your third point of political candidates dealing with political liability unwanted interlopers injecting themselves into their campaign due to hatefulness, etc of the opposing candidate--wouldn't the BEST course of action be to publicly DISAVOW the interloper's actions if the opposition mentions them?? I think I have a good idea of whom you're speaking of.

What is it with these Nobles? An entitlement because they think they are a royal family in the City? What credentials does Stevie have besides the title he elevated himself to last year? Truth be known there was another event being held at the location he announced at Saturday afternoon which gives a false head count. He's devious and manipulative already.

So I think that undergraduate degree in forestry will be real helpful in running the city, particularly with all the forests we have in Kingston . . .

9:42, I am sure you do know.

As for your idea, you would think so. However, these bad pennies keep turning up and causing trouble.

Gallo may be off-balance, but rather him than a zookeeper who only knows how to take directives. Where is our zoo?

Rich does Gallo help you write your blog as you were the attacker all of the time on Gallo. Now since your appointment to the Board of Fire Commissioners your a firm support. Wow

I assume you mean Blaber? Gallo used the guy and if he's dumb enough to let Steve use him too than they deserve each other. I saw how hard that guy worked for Shane Gallo and I know he has his issues but so does Gallo. I'm voting Republican this year for Mayor it's time for new Leadership.

Royal family?? Gotta to be kidding...They are delusional. As to qualifications? Zoo keeper? And occasional writing a few grants is a qualification to run for Mayor? I don't think so. Need to see whose hand is up the puppet Steve Noble's back...And the puppetmaster is.....??

8:42,

First, I write alone. The words are mine.

Second, I think you meant that I attacked Sottile. I did not attack Gallo during the entire 2011 campaign. Shayne and I are friends.

If you think that I would become someone's puppet or supporter merely because they offered me a non-paid volunteer position, then you are just plain stupid.

Steve Noble might be a good environmental educator/specialist which is fine. BUT, this is a city which needs more than just environmental issues being addressed. Cannot run on one agenda. The job of Mayor is to take on all issues that at times can overwhelm this city. At age 32 I don't feel he has the life experience to anticipate and solve those problems. What are his financial skills? Budget skills? Negotiating skills? Conflict resolvement skills, employee management? and etc.. The position of Mayor is not a 40hr work week.He is a nice guy but I cannot see him being strong when it will be needed especially in a crisis or an emergent situation. That might come with maturity. But as a resident I don't want him using city hall as the proving ground. He needs to get involved with more than just environmental issues. Then perhaps he can come back in another 4 to 8 years and run.

Isn't he the same age as T.R. was when elected. It's not the age. It's the man. Let's feel this one out for the next 8 months and then decide

10:33,

I knew T.R. Gallo rather well. Steve Noble is no T.R. Gallo.

Then again neither is shayne

I totally agree with your analogy.
