Legislator Chris Allen, the self proclaimed "most respected elected official in Ulster County" was arrested and charged with misdemeanor Assault according to State Police in Catskill.
He is accused of assaulting a teacher in front of her students causing a nasty cut on the back of her neck. Incredibly, Allen claims the wound was self-inflicted for political purposes. An asinine explanation for sure.
Let's see if either the Republicans or the Democrats call for his resignation.
As far as I am concerned, he needs to stop accusing the victim and be a man and admit what he did. Then, he should step down as a legislator.

Chris Allen took an ad out in the Kingston Times proclaiming his innocence. Obviously concerned with his re election. If I was him I would be more concerned about this criminal act and its consequences.
Maybe he did it. Sounds like he did. Still he is entitled to the presumption of innocence. I am stunned that you seem to be willing to ignore that principal. Let the process play out. Then if appropriate you can call for his dismissal. Till then put away the torch and pitchfork.
I am aware of the legal presumption. I am also able to smell BS. Either he did it or one must accept his defense that she cut herself intentionally. That defense is pure BS.
Finally, you are not "stunned". You are playing politics.
Maybe if he was exposing himself, or smoking crack, we could forgive him. But fighting over parking spots, that's downright un-American. Our parking lots are sacred retail territory.
