Sottile Not Running Again

Mayor Sottile issued a press release today announcing that he will not seek another term as Mayor. He will, however, serve his remaining term.

Mayor Sottile and I have disagreed strongly on matters of public policy. Nevertheless, I wish him well on all his future endeavors.

In other news, Jim Noble announced that he will not seek the office of Mayor and will run for Alderman at Large instead. Numerous other Democrats are now seeking the position including: Shayne Gallo, Bill Reynolds, Dave Donaldson, and Hayes Clement. Clement appears to be the early front runner, but anything can happen over the next 6 months.

On the Republican side, Alderman Turco-Levin is “definitely not ruling out” a possible run.

I am also seriously considering a run.

Terry Myers (1959 to 2010)

I am sad to report the passing of my friend, Terry Myers, the owner and operator of the Foxhall Deli.

Terry was really a great guy. He regularly held court at the deli discussing politics or the news of the day. Many people came from all over town to have lunch and chat with Terry. I will miss him a lot.

What many people do not know is that Terry started working at that store when he was 17 years old. In those days, the store was called "Dawkins". After Mr. and Mrs. Dawkins passed away, Terry bought the place in 1985. The store has been a mainstay in the neighborhood.

The wake for Terry will be held at Leahy's on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral is Saturday.
